The 2018 season at Pembroke Dock Bowling Club begun with the long-standing tradition of “Bowling the Silver Jack”. On Saturday 7th April, the honour of getting the season started fell to two club members who are, respectively, serving their County and Nation in two prestigious roles. Mrs Anne Cole will spend 2018 steering the West Wales Ladies Bowling Association (WWLBA) as its President. Mr Gerard Thomas has been inaugurated as the 2018 President of the British Isles Bowls Council. Gerard is the first bowler from Pembrokeshire to be invited to fill this important administrative position.
In addition to the formal photographs taken by Ken and Tony, there were several less-formal 'snaps' taken.
Captain v President Match 2018
The first scheduled fixture of the 2018 season was the Captain versus President match. This event is normally well supported but, this year it was somewhat short of support. Before bowling started, the club President, accompanied by the Chairman, declared the new visitor's changing rooms open (which was a good thing as half of those who took part had left their kit inside). A proud-looking Huw Williams ensured that the technical bit was well executed - and probably covered us on the "health and safety" front.
The Meyrick Owen Shield 2017 Winning Squad
For one reason, or another, it proved difficult to get the Meyrick Owen Shield winning squad together for the traditional portrait, on Club Finals day 2017. Ken Edwards managed to get them together on the day that the Warrior played St. Thomas - so a photograph was taken of the victorious group.
WWLBA plays host to SW&MLBA
It was a gorgeous Spring afternoon when the West Wales Ladies Bowling Association played host to the South Wales & Monmouthshire Ladies Bowling Association. The venue for the match was Pembroke Dock Bowling Club, which did its considerable best to make the visitors welcome. The Ladies Section of the club provided all participants with a tasty meal.
The President of the WWLBA, Mrs Anne Cole welcomed the officers and players of the SW&MLBA and paid tribute to the club for hosting the event.

Things seem to have got off
on a friendly note ...
But hang on - is that a hint of a
"game face" that I see!
Best to concentrate on some
mid-delivery "action" shots.
Looks more like "still life", to me!
But eventually, a winner did emerge ...
It was the game of Lawn Bowls!
Oh! and Pembroke Dock Bowling Club won the title.
Okay, it was these guys!
And these guys were presented, as the runners-up.
... But so graceful!
